Each layer is about 0.66 inches thick with 0.47 inch deep pockets making it ideal for storing ear ring studs, rings, and necklaces. 3 layers are removable for ease of use and compactness. The jewelry box has a relatively small footprint that makes it suitable for desktops, bathroom sinks, shelves, etc. Each layer has multiple pockets of varying size and shape. Sizing of pockets and of the box itself can be found in the pictures. This box was not made for chunky jewelry. However, some thicker pieces can be stored on the top layer. Appearance of the woods knots and grain structures will vary from box to box.
